CODE OF CONDUCT AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK
BY ENTERING THE FACILITY, ATHLETES, PRIVATE COACHES, OFFICIALS, PARENTS, SKATERS, GUESTS AND SPECTATORS ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
General Standards of Behavior
- Read and abide by all posted policies, procedures, rules, signs, and warnings, and cooperate with and follow the instructions of all staff members.
- Maintain professional relationships at all times, ensuring interactions remain appropriate, respectful, and within the context of sport, focused on fostering a safe and supportive environment. This includes in- person, virtual, and social media interactions.
- Except for minors enrolled and actively participating in a skating or hockey program at the Facility, minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Parents are responsible to ensure their minors adhere to this Code of Conduct and all Facility policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Treat all those at the Facility with respect and dignity in furtherance of maintaining a safe and supportive environment for everyone. Do not physically or verbally abuse, threaten or harass any person, including athlete, private coach, official, parent, skater, guest, spectator, and/or staff member, including through any social media platform. Fighting, use of physical force, obscene, offensive, or otherwise inappropriate language or gestures, racial, religious or ethnic slurs, or any form of discrimination are strictly prohibited.
- Do not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct or encourage or allow behavior that endangers the health, safety, or well-being of any athletes, private coaches, officials, parents, skaters, guests, spectators, and/or staff members.
- Do not possess or use any item that could be used as a weapon, including, but not limited to: firearms, explosives, fireworks, chemical dispensing devices, or any clubs, sticks, knives or other object(s) that may be used in any way to inflict bodily injury on another person. Hockey sticks and other hockey and/or skating equipment are permitted, as long as such items are used for their intended purpose only.
- Everyone enjoys the Facility when it’s clean. Do not discard litter of any kind anywhere, including on the rink surface, except in designated trash receptacles. Rummaging through or removing items from the trash receptacles is prohibited. Spitting is prohibited.
- Respect the property of others. Do not deface, damage or destroy any property belonging to the Facility, its occupants or other persons in the Facility.
- Smoking or consuming tobacco (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers) and/or marijuana, are prohibited. Drug paraphernalia and illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages are permitted if purchased from the Facility and only in areas specifically designated for the consumption of alcohol. Do not bring any outside food or alcoholic beverage into the Facility, unless otherwise approved by the Facility.
- Be safe. Do not act in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury to yourself or any other person.
- Do not violate any federal, state or local law, regulation, statute or ordinance.
- Do not bring any animals into the Facility with the exception of service animals (as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”)).
- Inform a staff member if you require accommodations or assistance, we’ll be happy to assist.
- Inform a staff member immediately if you observe or become aware of any violations of this Code of Conduct.
Rink Surface Rules & Safety
- All skaters are required to pay for their skating time prior to entering the rink surface.
- All skaters are required to read and abide by all posted signs and warnings, as well as cooperate with staff members at all times.
- All skaters are required to maintain a proper lookout to avoid other skaters, objects, or conditions on the rink surface.
- All skaters must accept responsibility for knowing the range of their ability while on skates, and skate within the limits of that ability and as appropriate for the respective session.
- Do not lean over or pound on the glass surrounding the rink surface.
- Throwing of any objects is not permitted on the rink surface.
- All skaters are expected to maintain respect for the rink surface, as well as any other skaters. Skaters are expected to maintain reasonable control of their speed and course at all times. No rough play or excessive speeding is permitted on the rink surface.
- All skaters are expected to refrain from acting in a manner that may cause or contribute to injury to themselves or any other person.
- No carrying of children or other items is permitted while skating.
- Do not take any food or beverages onto the rink surface or place food or beverages on the surrounding dasherboards or any railings.
- Skating is not permitted under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other controlled substances.
- Do not stay on or enter rink surface when resurfacing/cleaning or maintenance is taking place.
- Do not throw or leave objects on the rink surface.
- Keep exits to the rink surface clear. No loitering at exits or entrances. Before getting on the rink surface, look for oncoming skaters.
- Do not sit on floors, rink surface, dasherboards, handrails, stairs, trash receptacles or other areas not specifically designated for seating.
- Be aware of all surroundings while on and off the rink surface as objects, such as hockey pucks and sticks, may leave the rink surface at any time.
- No electronic devices are allowed on the rink surface.
- No talking or texting on mobile devices while on the rink surface.
- Do not use headphones/earbuds while on the rink surface during public skate sessions or hockey activities.
Violation of the Code of Conduct and Facility rules may result in consequences, up to and including, removal from the rink surface, ejection from the Facility, and/or suspension from the Facility.
Assumption of Risk
By engaging in skating or being present at the Facility, all athletes, private coaches, officials, parents, skaters, guests, and spectators are deemed to have knowledge of and assume the risk (inherent or otherwise) of skating and being a participant and/or spectator, which includes but is not limited to the following:
- Injuries that result from collisions or contact with other skaters or other individuals who are or near the rink surface.
- Injuries that result from falls.
- Injuries that involve objects or artificial structures that are properly on or near the rink surface.
- Injuries on the rink surface, in the spectator area or elsewhere in the Facility that result from being struck by hockey pucks, sticks or other equipment or items, or by other thrown objects.
