Sled Hockey Takes Great Park Ice!

The Anaheim Ducks and the San Diego Sled Hockey Program are hosting a competitive sled hockey (adaptive sports) tournament for both adult and youth teams on January 11-13, 2019 at the new Great Park Ice Area, Irvine CA.

The tournament will include six (6) adult teams from the Pacific Sled Hockey League (PSHL).  Each team is sponsored by an NHL affiliate: San Diego (Anaheim) Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Warriors, a team comprised of injured US servicemen.  Additionally, the newly formed Las Vegas (Knights) will be competing in the tournament and with plans to join the league for the 2019-2020 season.  Collectively, these teams have several players currently on the US Development Sled Hockey Team, each with the personal goal of making the US National Team for the 2022 Beijing Paralympics.

This tournament also has four (4) youth teams (San Diego Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks and a combined team from Los Angeles and Las Vegas) competing in the first West Coast Youth Sled Hockey Tournament.  These young athletes are equally ambitious in learning and developing their skills in this exciting new sport.

Coincidentally, the U.S. Women's Sled Hockey team will be conducting a three-day training session from Jan 10-12.  On Saturday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m., the U.S. Women's Sled Hockey Team will play an All-star team from the adult PSHL tournament.

Games will commence Friday night and continue through the weekend.
